Seth Klaskin is a warm, positive, and energetic leader who is well networked in the State and Local Government Software markets. Seth was a Civil Trial Lawyer for 11 years before serving as Director of the Business Services Division for the Secretary of the State of Connecticut for almost nine years. He left that post to serve as a Sales Executive for a company that sells enterprise-class software systems to Secretaries of State, Elections Boards and Commissions, Ethics Commissions, and State Land Agencies. Seth built a strong network in those verticals and others prior to partnering with Scott D’Aniello to form Specialty Outsourced Sales LLC. Seth deployed professional sales, business development, and account executive skills and strategies in that role and successfully sold many upgrades, enhancements, and contract renewals for product support and maintenance, in addition to selling software systems to new client agencies.
As Director of Business Services for the CT Secretary of the State, Seth partnered with the agency’s automation vendor to bring foundational efficiency to the operation, eliminating Annual Report processing backlogs while managing a 25% reduction in reviewing staff due to attrition during the Great Recession. Seth presided over a budget that was reduced by a basis of $4M/year, largely through automation. He represented the Secretary on many occasions, testifying in the CT General Assembly and serving as the Secretary’s Designee to the advisory board of CTData (f/k/a CT Data Collaborative). Seth commissioned and designed the Secretary’s CT Online Business Startup Tool and, in that role, worked closely with the state’s economic development resources and organizations. He was twice nominated for CT State Manager of the Year for his efforts to modernize and bring unprecedented efficiency to the division.
Reaching out to the legal and business communities, Seth was a member of the Executive Committee of the Business Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. In that role he served on the CT Limited Liability Company Act Drafting Subcommittee, which produced the new CT LLC Act (effective in 2017). Seth led a team as the primary drafter of Article 2, containing the Filing Provisions of the Act. In July 2019 Seth was appointed to the CT General Assembly’s Data Analysis Technology Advisory Board (DATA Board) by Speaker of the House Joseph Aresimowicz. On that Board, Seth had a direct hand in formulating Connecticut’s pioneering State Data Policy, adopted in 2020.
An experienced entrepreneur, Seth co-founded a law practice in 1997 and more recently served as the Secretary/General Counsel, and a co-founding Member of, Jewish Whisky Company LLC. Company brands include: Single Cask Nation (an independent bottler of rare, super-premium whiskies from around the world, for retail and online membership society purchase), Whisky Jewbilee (a premium whisky festival, rated as one of the top ten whisky festivals in the world by a notable trade magazine), and WhiskyGeek Tours (bespoke distillery tours of Scotland).
Seth lives on the Connecticut shoreline with his wife and three daughters. He has served as an elected member of his town’s Zoning Board of Appeals and for 12 years on the elected Board of Education (serving as Secretary of the Board and Policy Committee Chair for several terms each, among other roles). Growing up in Pittsburgh and having earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Seth is a die-hard Steelers fan (sorry, Pats and Giants!).
